Practical Fishkeeping  |  Practical Fishkeeping March 2023
I start this issue with yet another heavy heart. Shortly before going to press, I was informed that former PFK editor Matt Clarke had died.
Matt was a tour de force during his time at the helm of the mag, and it was he who invited me to apply for my first role as technical writer. As I joined just as he left, I never knew the man as well as I’d have liked, which is why I’ve asked another former editor, Jeremy Gay, to write Matt’s obituary for this issue.
The March issue includes the first of what I hope will be my ongoing theme throughout this year—quirk and oddities. To that end, I have a feature highlighting an unusual aquarium pet: a medicinal leech. In her writing debut, US contributor Leash Holden introduces us to the world of bloodsucking worms you can keep at home.
I must also unashamedly confess to being somewhat anabantid heavy this issue. But I won’t apologise. They are wonderful fish, as I’m sure our writers will convince you.
