Aramis Johnson: “I can’t pay ren toff this band”

ENUMCLAW is asmall town in Washington state. “It’s white and afarm town,” says the band’s vocalist Aramis Johnson. “Very beautiful, though.” Enumclaw the band are not from Enumclaw the town, but from nearby Tacoma. And though they sound very much sons of the Pacific Northwest –loud guitars, sweet melodies, unselfconscious angst –it wasn’t always that way. “I grew up listening to rap and R&B until Iwas 17, and didn’t really get into Pacific Northwest music until college,” says Johnson. “I thought if Iwas in aband it’d sound like King Krule.”
