More evocative propaganda posters are being offered by specialist auction house Onslows on December 15, but this time from a conflict that raged between the world wars.
Over the past 30 years Onslows has sold only a handful of posters from the Spanish Civil War (1936-39), but this selection has an interesting provenance dating back to 1937.
Patrick Bogue of Onslows says: “The collection we are to sell originally held 12 posters. However, the family who have owned them since the conflict decided to present five examples to family members, in memory of their relative who had collected them while in Spain in the 1930s as he supported the Republican cause of the war.”
