Letters to the Editor

Troon boon?

Sir,

I do love a good artist’s impression.

What a pity the aerial view of the maritime hub at Ardrossan, which The Banner printed last week, hardly falls into that category.

The only impression I got was of a computer generated image, hurriedly thrown together in response to the brochures produced by Associated British Ports (ABP).

Can we really see ourselves strolling through the verdant grasslands and tree-lined walkways of Win-ton Pier whilst waiting for wind speeds to drop below 35mph so that ferry services may resume?

The ferry on the left-hand side does not appear to be attached to any linkspan and, in any case, there is no direct vehicle access from the marshalling area on the right for loading purposes.

Foot passengers still have a long and exposed walk from the hub to the nearest bus stop.
