Despite the bitter cold, a large number of Arran residents, from babies to senior citizens, gathered in Brodick last Saturday in support of a week of action for the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, (ICAN).
Members and supporters of CND included one of the most senior and respected attendees, the Rev John Webster, who has been campaigning against nuclear weapons for more than 50 years. Mr Webster supports the view of ICAN that nuclear weapons, which are indiscriminate in nature and are designed to cause catastrophic humanitarian harm, should be prohibited under international law.
Shona Dunsmuir and daughter Loxa make their feelings known.
