AN ULTRA RUNNER has been recognised by the Prime Minister with a Point of Light volunteering award for his work promoting the benefits of health and exercise by completing extreme challenges.
Andrew Murray, a doctor at the University of Edinburgh, has fundraised over £170,000 for the Scottish Association for Mental Health, the African Palliative Care Association UK and Yamaa Trust.
Murray has achieved a series of astonishing feats, including running seven ultra-marathons in seven days on seven continents, completed a 4300km run from John O’Groats to the Sahara Desert and run up Britain’s 10 highest peaks in one day.
