WINTER weather and hard sessions are a combination that can leave the body’s defences vulnerable to infection. As temperatures drop, so illnesses that can stop your training in its tracks become more widespread.

Cold and flu infections are caused by several viruses from lots of different families and are easily spread through direct contact or through the air when someone coughs or sneezes. And athletes have been shown to be more at risk of succumbing to a seasonal infection than the general population.
