Ethical travel
Exploring the world is one of the most rewarding things a person can spend time and money on. Visiting new places and meeting new people opens our eyes to a different way of life, garners respect for nature, and broadens our understanding of the Earth.
But, travelling can be highly damaging to the environment and people who live in tourist destinations. A 2018 study suggested that global tourism accounts for one tenth of global emissions, while another study from WWF shows that tourists cause 45 per cent of pollution entering the Mediterranean Sea every year.
