The Courier’s recent street survey provided a glimpse into the town’s love of books and reading. Many gave a general a thumbs-up for the proposal of a Mull of Kintyre book festival (MOK Bookfest).
Just as sports, music and film fans like to meet their heroes, our street survey indicated that readers would like to meet authors and hear them speak about their work. A MOK Bookfest would not only promote authors and possibly delight readers, but could also serve to promote the area, bringing more visitors to the town.
Meeting organisers, including the Courier, are encouraging all who would be interested in bringing a book festival to Campbeltown, whether they read books or not, to attend a no-obligation, initial information and suggestions evening at the Town Hall Chambers next Thursday, October 18, at 7.30pm.
