Musik,
Richie Hawtin’s second album as Plastikman, returns with a fresh remaster from the original tapes. Thirty years on, it’s often surprising just how austere this minimal techno classic sounds. Nothing is wasted by the British-Canadian as the Detroitinfused loops of tracks such as the opening
Konception
create trance-like states to disappear into, while the progressive acid house of
Plastique
is little more than a 909, dubby echo and the odd scything synth motif. It’s lean, mean and, with a bio-vinyl press, it’s green, too.
