Classic Pop  |  Jul/Aug 2020

So... it’s been a while. Thanks for bearing with us while we briefly pressed the pause button on the magazine to make it through the initial impact of the pandemic. So what have we got for you in our new issue? Well, we’re delighted to welcome back Sparks to the magazine as they embark on a busy 2020; a new album, a Hollywood musical and a documentary directed by Baby Driver’s Edgar Wright – it’s all going on for the Mael brothers. Plus we take a detailed look at the back catalogue of Nick Heyward for our latest Album By Album feature and we have interviews with synth icons John Foxx and Neil Arthur, returning with charged-up new albums by The Maths and Blancmange respectively. Elsewhere, make sure you check out a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Stone Roses’ historic gig at Spike Island in all its chaotic glory. With the live music scene currently forced to sit it out, we’ve expanded our new albums and reissues section to fill the void. Now more than ever, our favourite musicians are helping to get us through some tough times with a whole host of exciting new releases. Enjoy the issue!

First launched in October 2012, Classic Pop is a monthly British music magazine, that celebrates the most influential pop music from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

In each issue, Classic Pop dedicates a minimum of five pages to the creation, influence and history of one of the most significant albums from the pop genre. From Duran Duran’s ‘Rio’ to ‘Fantastic’ by Wham! or Primal Scream’s outstanding ‘Screamadelica’, Classic Pop magazine covers all of your favourite pop music classics.

As well as it’s regular monthly editions, Classic Pop has released a number of special one-off issues that celebrate the most influential, classic pop icons such as Michael Jackson, ABBA, Elton John, Prince, Madonna, David Bowie and Paul McCartney.

A Classic Pop digital magazine subscription is a must-have for anyone interested in the 70s, 80s and 90s pop music. Each issue is packed with fantastic features - with your subscription you’ll receive:

  • Access to exclusive A-list artist interviews
  • News on the very latest happenings in music
  • Backstage access to the ‘Classic Album’ feature
  • ‘Godfathers of Pop’ feature
  • ‘The Lowdown’ feature - the comprehensive review of classic bands and artists
  • ‘Pop Art’ feature - a tribute to the best artwork in music
  • Review section that highlights the very best new releases, reissues and vinyl
  • ‘Lost & Found’ section - albums or singles that have seemingly been forgotten

You'll receive 6 issues during a 1 year Classic Pop magazine subscription.

Note: Digital editions do not include the covermount items or supplements you would find with printed copies.
