Although they formed in 1983, Spartacus was only The Farm’s second album on its release in 1991. Initially becoming none-baggier via a standalone cover of The Monkees’ Stepping Stone the previous year, by 1991 the Liverpool mob were ready for their golden moment. They had the perfect manager/ producer in Suggs as, like Madness, The Farm were seemingly a good-time band whose rowdy demeanour masked some rather melancholic undercurrents.
