“The Embassy was one of those nights where everything falls into place as if being written by someone from the future describing how important it was. It couldn’t have gone any better. Gary Crowley has since told me that he’d seen the future of pop that night. This was our debut high-profile gig following that first half-page feature Adrian Thrills wrote about us for the NME. I must say, there was a feeling in the band that we were [‘the future of pop’] and it was striped and bright yellow, just like my favourite polo shirt.
