On his debut as GLOK, Ride guitarist Andy Bell swaps gazing at his shoes for dancing in them, plugging in his synths for these 10 adventures. Opener Dirty Hugs is most effective, patiently building over 20 minutes to a fierce climax decorated with fuzzed-out guitars, and the final Invocation is similarly boldly extended over 15 minutes, if to less dramatic effect. Some tracks are calmer still: Process features Shamon Cassette’s anodyne spoken word accompaniment, and Kintsugi offers a moody but dreamy instrumental world of ringing guitars.
