Slayer: a reunion that no one was expecting.
STOKE-ON-TRENT City Council have approved plans to erect a 2.2-metre-high bronze statue of former Hawkwind and Motörhead bassist and vocalist Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister in the Market Place of Burslem, the Staffordshire town where Lemmy was born on December 24, 1945.
Afundraising campaign has been launched to raise the £50,000 that the project is likely to cost. The cast for the statue will be made from Staffordshire clay by local sculptor Andy Edwards, who also designed the statue of The Beatles that stands at Liverpool’s Pier Head.
