We talked to trans rights campaigner Christine Burns MBE on the eve of her recent talk at The Women’s Hall, London. Part of a project celebrating the campaigning work of the ELFS Suffragettes (East London Federation of the Suffragettes) in which she brings attention to Sylvia Pankhurst and the ight for universal suffrage, it was important to Christine as “women’s emancipation and trans emergence have a lot in common”. Her book, Trans Britain, unearths a history of trans identity in the UK.
