Defra fisheries Minister hears at first hand in Shetland, about quota issues, impact of fuel, delays in getting fish to export markets, when she visits Lerwick market. Using the visit as an opportunity to highlight the next round of Fishers Fund grants, FN also looks at the many industry led projects that may meet some of the challenges being thrown at fishermen. Cefas scientists highlight some of their work, undertaken on fishing vessels, to help fishermen reduce costs and environmental footprints. The new Parkol built crabber, Winter of Ladram, undertook successful sea trials this week.
