Flora International  |  Spring 22
Flora Spring 22;
Spring is almost here and with it Valentine’s Day when the media often castigates the flower industry for the price of flowers. But a Valentine’s gift does not have to cost a fortune. Flora’s inventive ideas on page 21 offer lovely designs for less than £10 that should give as much or even more pleasure than traditional roses.
On the subject of thrift, I love the Antiques Roadshow. I give many a gasp of horror when a beautiful object goes for nearly nothing at auction but it does mean that lovely and unusual vessels for flowers can be obtained relatively cheaply. In my article on page 31 I invite you to do a bit of searching and send me an image of your charity find arranged with flowers for possible publication in Flora.
On page 64 is the heart-warming story of Matthew, who started the successful enterprise SEN-sational with his mum and sister, giving him a focus for his creativity.
Harriet Parry shows more of her exciting and different floral artworks on page 33 and more examples of her splended work can be found at harrietparryflowers.com
Here’s to hoping that this spring will be less challenging than 2021 and that you all keep well and safe in 2022.
