DNA traces that could be used to identify an individual could be collected from the sea
W e leave genetic traces of ourselves everywhere we go, through dropping dead skin and hair, sneezing and coughing, or flushing the toilet after we’ve used it. Now, scientists from the University of Florida found have discovered that not only can these DNA traces be retrieved from land, sea and air, but also that they’re strong enough to be matched to individuals. The scientists found human DNA almost everywhere – in oceans and rivers, and buried in the sand of beaches.
