People have been taking skiing holidays in Italy since the 18th century, but the first organised ski club did not appear until 1903, when the Club Sportivo was founded in Cortina d’Ampezzo. In the years since the First World War, Cortina has hosted editions of all the world’s biggest ski championships, as well as featuring in films like The Pink Panther and For Your Eyes Only. And so it continues… Cortina will host the 2021 Alpine World Championships and, jointly with Milan, the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
