I’ve recently started a new allotment and would like to encourage wildlife. If I hang some bird feeders, am I likely to be encouraging birds to eat my crops too?

EMMA SAYS: Although some birds, notably pigeons, do cause problems and lots of damage to brassica crops and young peas etc., they will almost certainly arrive whether or not you put out bird food (after all, as far as they are concerned you already did that when planting crops!). You will need to net these crops.
