How to add sparkle and movement to your work

To loosen up your painting style requires a combination of elements few of which are tangible so sadly there’s no formula that I can offer to help. Obviously tickling a canvas with a No. 2 sable won’t work so using a bigger brush then painting more vigorously would help. Even then it’s difficult to suggest exactly what size of brush, not least as that’s dependent on the size of picture and should there be a scale of vigorousness, midway between spirited and fervent would seem about right.
