The A82 Partnership has this week raised concerns over delays to potential plans to upgrade the trunk route in Fort William, following Transport Scotland announcement that updates to its ‘traffic modelling’ of Fort William will not be completed until spring 2018, thwarting any plans for work to start on the road before next summer.
Stewart MacLean of the A82 Partnership said: ‘We’re going to write to Transport Scotland again to try to bring the completion date forward as we want work to be done this winter, in time for next season.’
You can understand the Partnership’s concerns, given the annual difficulties on the route, particularly during the summer months when traffic jams and long tailbacks mean journeys are slow and cause frustration.
