“D o you want to do karaoke?”
It was a refrain that followed us around the Philippines: after a morning stand-up paddle boarding; in a brothel in Manila (unintentionally visited and swiftly exited); in a cavernous and empty bar in Siargao. And now, on a beach on a small deserted island, a karaoke machine magically appeared out of nowhere. Welcome to the land of the out-oftune power ballad.
