"Another great issue for you this month with, I hope, a little something for everyone. Clara’s Garden is another lovely foundation pieced quilt designed by Lynne Goldsworthy for Makower. Lynne always manages to find cool ways of creating quilt designs. In Herman Revisited, Mandy Munroe re-imagines her Herman Hugs quilt which was first featured in the August 2017 issue of our former sister magazine, Popular Patchwork. The Colour Brush Quilt plays with the traditional Nine Patch block while the Charming Triangles Quilt by our Let’s Go Shopping owner, Sue Ross, makes great use of those charm packs we all have in our stashes. The Sunset Horse wall hanging mixes several techniques and Stuart’s Stashbusting column this month features a super quick pieced block design.

At the time of writing, it has not been possible for quilt shows and exhibitions to be held but with a bit of lateral thinking the organisers of the Festival of Quilts were able to hold Beyond the Festival of Quilts; a virtual quilt show. I’ve written a ‘review’ of the winners as well as highlighting a few of my favourites from their online show. Joanna O’Neill managed a socially distanced visit to The Quilt Shop in Morpeth for our Let’s Go Shopping feature and also pre-lockdown, Judi Mendelssohn visited a one-woman exhibition and tells us about it in Vanessa’s Patchwork Journey. Regular contributor, Janet Goddard, tells us about her First and Last quilts and we meet Guernsey Patchwork and Quilters in Introducing.

Nice ideas but geared more towards the beginner. I like it because my daughter can help. Reviewed 16 February 2020
