It’s a nostalgic time for Chandana Ekanayake, who spent much of his early career living inside The Matrix. He joined Shiny Entertainment at the height of red pill fever, when the studio was swept up in the Wachowskis’ plans for crossover movies, comics, anime, and games.

“The first thing I got to do was read the scripts for the sequels,” Ekanayake recalls. “They were still shooting it. The Wachowskis were very much involved and writing stuff for the game. It was an Expanded Cinematic Universe, before that was a thing, really.”
