BAFFLING new tree tactics in Sheffield. The council has informed households of one street that it will “address inequality in how trees are planted” by planting four trees outside their homes.
So far, so green – and so odd, given the area borders a working farm, home to 100 trees. Odder still, Sheffield’s controversial draft local plan means the farmland will be developed into housing (Eye 1659). Sheffield says this will all be subject to the usual planning permissions, “ecology analysis” included.
