Editor’s letter
Whether it’s to find your vocation (page 46) or upgrade your relationship so your love thrives not dies (page 34), this issue is an invitation to create positive change in your life. For inspiration on how tiny shifts can lead to huge life transformation, read Ivana Greslikova’s piece on page 102 on how becoming a full-time travel writer began when she and her partner Gianni decided to give up smoking. ‘The deal was if we could stay away from nicotine for a year, we’d quit our jobs and leave for a trip to Asia. Simple.’
But, as we know, change is not always simple or easy. That’s why we’ve dedicated our 18-page Dossier this month to how to stay calm in a crisis to launch our new book Real Calm (John Wiley & Sons, £9.99), which hits the bookshelves this week. What is true calm? At Psychologies, we believe that creating calm is about being able to identify what is causing you stress in your life – be it your own negative self-talk or external circumstances – and then finding new ways to deal with how you feel.
