Reclaim  |  RECLAIM 07 October 2016
This month we explore two icons - William Morris, pioneer of the English Arts and Crafts Movement, who changed Victorian interior design and whose influence we continue to feel today. The William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow, formerly his family home, is a fine Georgian house dedicated to the man's creativity. Across London, in Marylebone, sits another icon - Alfies Antique Market, which marks 40 glorious years with a pop-up store, talks and workshops. Reclaim spoke to owner Bennie Gary, who, like Morris, is infectious in his enthusiasm for creativity. It's this enthusiasm and daring to be different that marks out the truly inspiring people in the antique, vintage and reclaimed arena. People like interior designer Sarah Ellison of Frank & Faber, whose home reflects her love of vintage, Joanne Tinker, whose passion for turning trash into treasure makes her a celebrated artist and Louise Parker, owner of Trevor Hall in Wales, who has transformed the Georgian property into a mix of classic and contemporary design, with an edge. You're sure to be inspired by these stories, plus there's plenty more – historic lidos, a pub crawl with a difference, along with our regular pages from news and events to our salvage yard tour. Enjoy this issue!
