What a month that was!
Since our last issue, we have witnessed some sensational on-field action across multiple Grand Finals and we have coverage from them all in our latest edition. Hull KR recovered from an uncertain start at Old Trafford to bounce back and claim their first ever Super League title in style with a 24-6 victory over Wigan Warriors, with ‘Magic’ Mikey Lewis fully deserving his nickname delivering a dazzling man of the match performance.
With a new name on the trophy at last, there will also be new names in the competition next year as Super League expands to 14-teams. Despite all the drama and controversy surrounding IMG gradings and independent panels, we now know that Bradford Bulls, Toulouse Olympique and York Knights – the top three teams in the Championship this season – will be promoted, whilst financially-stricken Salford Red Devils will drop out of the top-flight. Whether by accident or design, the IMG gradings have delivered a Super League line-up almost identical to league placings, with Hull KR sitting proudly at the top of the pile.
With the domestic seasons over, attention turns to the international scene, and the long-awaited Ashes Series. Can England upset the odds and the weight of history and emerge victorious? We caught up with Herbie Farnworth, one of England’s star players with plenty of NRL experience under his belt. No stranger to the Australians who will be determined to retain the Ashes they have held for so long, he insists they are only men, not supermen.
