Steam World  |  May 2020
The May issue of Steam World is a visual treat from the golden age of British steam starting with a superb centre spread of Bristol Barrow Road MPD in August 1964 featuring a mix of Great Western and LMS locomotives. Famous photographer Gavin Morrison presents Brilliant Bournemouth – six pages of pictures taken in and around the south coast town. As a tribute to the photographer who died recently Steam World presents some of the stunning colour work of William “Barking Bill” Wright. Then there are shots from York’s steam heyday in the 1950s.
Readers will be taken back to the summer of 1958 when the journal of a guard reveals his many duties. In 1963 John B Hall travelled the country chasing steam and Bob Poynter recalls summer Saturdays in Exeter. Plus there’s plenty more reading and lots more pictures in a great edition.
