GDPR? Oh, no, not yet another acronym! Yes, and once again the world of work is moving. GDPR is General Data Protection Regulation. It’s regulated by the EU and will go live on May 25. It’s there to protect a citizen’s private information so if you have any data on them (email, home addresses, email addresses, etc) this will affect you, so you’d best read on.
If that data got out via hacking or sharing without each individual’s permission, you could be liable for a hefty fine in all 26 EU countries, so it’s worth taking a few simple steps to cover yourself. You might mistakenly believe that hackers aren’t interested in you, but cyber criminals often target an exploitable individual’s weaknesses rather than larger companies – it’s easier!
