It’s May and spring carping is well and truly here! If there’s any time to start getting out and putting fish on the bank, then now is that time! The carp are getting turbocharged by the sun, water temperatures mean feeding is now kicking into gear and the carp will be in their biggest and best condition prior to spawning.

Headlining this month’s issue of Total Carp, we have Ian Russell’s Troubleshooter, which sees Ian and his client head to Booneys Lake on the Manor Farm Lakes complex, where it all came down to pinpoint location before a string of stunning carp came their way – spring carping at its finest! Here at team TC, we even got in on a bit of early bread bomb business – our first bit of surface fishing this year.

Amongst catching mammoth carp, Mark Holmes shares his thoughts on spring fishing, the tricks he uses and how he hopes to make it one to remember. Oz Holness talks fishing for drops in amongst the growing fronds of weed and Matt Eaton explains why shallow water could be worth serious consideration at this time of year.
