Formed from the breakup of garagebluesers Kill It Kid, Ida Mae are a duo that combine English folk, Americana, and blues roots. “I was listening to The Black Keys and The White Stripes, and I wanted to follow it back to the source. That’s how I discovered names like Blind Willie McTell, and Rev Gary Davis and Fred McDowell. It was like this epic archaeological dig!” singer/ guitarist Chris Turpin says of his guitar journey. “Kill It Kid kind of came to a natural ending point and I wanted to start an acoustic project, so that’s what me and Stephanie [Jean, vocals] did. We didn’t have to hide behind a big, loud rock band anymore. It was just going to be my Martin D-18 and our voices.”
