Australian Transgender FEMALE, 42yrs from Gold Coast, QLD, Australia. Currently employed in the most alpha male environment – The Mining Industry

This Christmas will be my first as Jasmin and it was last year on Christmas Eve, Wednesday 24th December 2014 that I was officially diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria… the best Christmas present EVER!

WOW…what a difference 12 months makes!

When I first contemplated documenting my journey to transition, naturally, one would begin from the start??... But for me there is NO exact start to pinpoint. I did not just wake up one morning and consciously make the decision to live the rest of my life as a woman. My life has evolved, and quite to the contrary, I would wake up some mornings in a cold sweat asking myself “Am I a man or a woman?”

…always, from an early age, daydreaming of what it would be like to be a woman, trying on my sister’s clothes when I was home alone as a young boy, sometimes pretending I was ill so I could stay at home from school, or forfeit family outings so I could have privacy to experiment and feel gorgeously happy fantasising that I was a girl…Then as I got older I moved in to my own unit/accommodation. I loved my own company and realised the possibility that one day I could be a woman, so started buying a few items of women’s clothing from op shops or nervously from department stores, pretending the clothes were for my sister or niece to remove the embarrassment I felt of a male buying women’s clothes. The more I dressed in my women’s panties and pretty dresses, the more comfortable I felt. But this was always a fantasy and I could not keep thinking that way - I thought it was an impossible dream as I had male genitalia and was born a boy.
