True Crime  |  True Crime December 2018

Highlights this issue include:

* AXEMAN SLAYS HIS OWN FAMILY: “My family and me were attacked by a madman swinging an axe. There’s blood everywhere,” Henry van Breda told emergency services. But something didn’t quite add up...

* MAJOR BRITISH MURDER CASES: CHRISTMAS GUN DRAMA IN BLOOMSBURY: For ruthless crook Frederick Westbrook, the season of goodwill meant nothing. And when he got involved in a dispute at a late-night West End café, bullets flew from his pistol

* 21 YEARS IN JAIL – FOR A CRIME HE DIDN’T COMMIT: In the mid-90s, Texan cop Brian Franklin was convicted of raping a child and sentenced to life behind bars – despite the absence of any scientific evidence against him. More than two decades went by before the wheels of justice finally turned

* THEY MET ON THE GALLOWS: TWO YOUNG MEN...TWO DEAD FIANCEES: In the same week of 1951 two Norfolk men, unknown to one other, murdered the women they loved

* GANGLAND CONFIDENTIAL: LOCKED UP IN JAIL – WITH GANGLAND’S MOST DEADLY: What was it like rubbing shoulders with mobsters such as Paul Ricca, Louis Campagna, Phil D’Andrea and Charles Gloe? Gordon Shelly met them all in his time behind bars at Leavenworth Penitentiary

* DEATH ON THE RAILWAY: WIFE-KILLING ON THE BRADFORD LINE: When his flashy, rakish brother Ronald was demobbed from the army, Raymond’s marriage to his sweetheart Ada was doomed

* WHY WAS POLICE SERGEANT’S MURDER COVERED UP? Incredible story of a Surrey policeman’s murder and a “whitewash” involving the Prime Minister and Home Secretary of the day

* ASK TC: WHY MARGIE KILLED TWO HUSBANDS: Her brother was outlaw Ray Hamilton, but Margie was every bit as tough. She certainly knew how to handle a gun

* MURDER THE FRENCH WAY: THE CORPSE IN THE BURNING CAR: Yves Dandonneau had big dreams of sailing to the Greek islands and starting a school for deprived children. All he needed were the finances to make it happen. And that involved him being dead
What’s it like to be a killer? Or a murder victim? Or a detective trying to crack the crime?

True Crime magazine has the answers. And now it’s available in a versatile digital edition you can read anywhere on any device.

Packed full of must-read reports on unspeakable crimes, illustrated with astonishing photos, True Crime is better than the most thrilling whodunit – because it’s 100% TRUE.

Specialising in real-life stories from the US, the UK and around the world, it brings you the most notorious homicide cases from Victorian times right up to the present. In its pages you might find the latest murder case from the UK courts, a fascinating gangster saga from the 1930s, a French crime of passion from the 1970s and a crazed cannibal killer from the former Soviet Union. All this plus regular features such as Chronicles of Crime, Major British Murders and Gangland Confidential.

Use this app to try the latest issue or a full year’s subscription (12 issues) and explore the dark world of crime with our expert writers as your guide. We take a lot of care over the way our stories are written – to make them clear, engrossing and above all factually correct. Never less than fascinating, True Crime might just be the best crime read you can buy.
