“YOU GET A FEELING OF THE NEXT DIMENSION”
Ralf And Florian’s Comix
MIL Schult’s “musicomix” poster for 1973’s Ralf And Florian LP is a playful expression of
EKraftwerk’s early ambitions. Its opening panel envisagesapastel-paintedsunriseoverDüsseldorf, with a giant TV transmitter in the Rhine and monster walkie-talkies and headphones floating in the sky. Later, a globe turns with only Düsseldorf marked and the words “Kling-Klang” circling, as if the world belongs to these unknown young Germans and their music. “It wasn’t an ambition, like ‘I wanna set a footprint on the world from Düsseldorf’,” Schult explains. “It was more with a twinkle in the eyes. I shared with Ralf and Florian a certain humour and a romantic feeling towards technology.”
