DavidGilmour: not ready to bury thehatchet?
CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE…
Reading your interview with David Gilmour (Take 326) I became somewhat uneasy during the part where the Waters vs Gilmour feud reared its ugly head once more. It’s sad to see this falling-out escalate, with both sides descending into a slagging match that for the most part seems to be instigated by Waters (I could be in error on this). It’s also sad that the two men in question appear unwilling or unable to bury the hatchet.
May I suggest a possible solution where a meeting between each of their respective seconds with a view to setting up a pistol-at-the-gates-ofdawn-on-the-dark-side-of-the-moor duel scenario allowing, of course, for the moor misting over and obscured by the very clouds synonymous with such a location. Perhaps this pre-psychedelic idea is unworkable, but hey, they could always reacquaint in the name of Syd. I say this in part after watching the brilliant new documentary Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett And Pink Floyd. I say this too because David and Roger have brooded in the past over their regret in not doing more for Barrett when they had the chance. Why not re-record “Careful With That Axe, Eugene” as “Careful With That Acid, Syd” with the assurance of turning on a new generation onto his genius and onto their own genius together thereafter. Tom Kinsella, Dublin Thanks for writing, Tom.
