SANDI TOKSVIG AND OTHER FABULOUSLY FUNNY WOMEN
She may host TV’s brainiest panel show, QI, but don’t expect Sandi to tell the most sophisticated jokes. Asked in 2015 by Comic Relief for her favourite gag, Sandi almost apologetically retold the story of two snakes in the jungle. One says: ‘Psst… I’ve forgotten. Are we poisonous?’ The other snake replies: ‘Why?’ And the first snake says: ‘No, it’s nothing, but I’ve bitten my tongue.’ ‘It’s sweet, isn’t it?’ says Sandi, who claims never to have intended to become a comedian in fact, she hates the term. Comedy used to be dominated by men, but things are different these days. As it’s Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day this week, we celebrate some of our funniest women.
