I’ve had a couple of odd things happen to me lately. The first one dates back to before Marathon des Sables (MdS) in April. The Ultra-Trail World Tour is rightly trying to clamp down on Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) before our largely amateur sport becomes farcical like cycling and athletics. As an MdS runner with a higher International Trail Running Association (ITRA) ranking, I was chosen for a short-notice test. A demand, via a strangely worded (translated from French, I know now) SMS, for a blood sample within four days.
