Woodcarving  |  Nov-Dec 2011
Join Woodcarving as we head into winter with the November/December edition of your favourite magazine. In this issue, we excitedly announce the results of this year’s Woodcarving competition. The quality of this years entrants’ is phenomenal and our 15-page gallery showcasing the Woodcarver of the year and runners up is not one to be missed!
In this month’s issue we have some great projects for you to carve, including Bill Prickett’s diving kingfisher and a roosting bat with Chris Pye. Paul Bignell teaches us how to carve a genie in preparation for the pantomime season and following on from last issue where Dave Western encouraged us to get creative with Lovespoon designs, we see his step-by-step guide to carving them.
Our technical articles include Part 4 of Peter Clothier’s series on hand tools, focusing on sharpening and using V-tools as well as tips on how to maintain them. Meanwhile, Steve Bisco explains how to give your carvings that special gilded effect the easy-way.
Plus we have a 20-minute interview with American bird carver Ira Frost and take a look at the incredible work of wood-artist Joey Richardson.
To complete this edition of Woodcarving, regulars such as News, From the Forums, tests, and The Art of Carving continue to inform and keep you updated with all things woodcarving.
