Khadija Abdalla Bajaber has won the inaugural Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction for The House of Rust (Graywolf Press). The $25,000 cash prize is to be given annually to an outstanding ‘single book-length work of imaginative fiction.’The jury was Adrienne Maree Brown, Becky Chambers, Molly Gloss, David Mitchell, and Luis Alberto Urrea.The Prize was awarded in a virtual ceremony in October. Independent Los Angeles publishers Unnamed Press and Rare Bird have joined forces to open a bookstore North Figueroa Bookshop, which operates from the same building where both publishers have their offices.
