The International Bedford Writing Competition is inviting entries for its short story and poetry contests for 2019.
There are prizes in each category of £500, £150 and £100. This year there is a new £100 for the best entry by a writer under thirty, and the best entry by a writer from Bedford will be awarded £100. Winning stories will be published in an anthology.
• To enter the short story competition, send original, unpublished short stories up to 3,000 words. Type stories in 12pt font, doubled spaced on numbered single sides of A4. Your must not appear on the manuscript. Include the story title at the top of each page. The entry fee is £6 per story or three stories for £12.
