Dreamforge is a new US based quarterly print magazine devoted to science and fantasy fiction. With issue two published in May, founder and editor Scott Noel is reading for future issues with a deadline of midnight on 30 June.
Noel’s goal is to publish positive science fiction and fantasy ranging from hard science fiction to sword and sorcery as well as fables, poetry and anything with punk in front of its name. While horror isn’t required, non-horrific stories involving zombies or vampires aren’t ruled out. However, stories should present an overall positive vision of the world they imagine; for example, communities and teams working together to overcome challenges; marginalised and under-represented characters as protagonists; science or magic used to solve problems and make the world a better palace. Apocalyptic and dystopian stories are very likely to be rejected, and sex, violence and profanity should be kept to a minimum.
