Recycle your cycle
The organisation re-cycle Bikes to Africa is a charity project that sends refurbished bikes from the UK to seven African countries. Unused bikes that would otherwise be thrown away are being reused and sent to eight partner organisations in Africa on container ships. On site, trained staff sell a number of the bikes so they are able to pay for their shop, employees and shipping costs of further bikes. That way they don’t harm local vendors, who wouldn’t be able to compete with free bikes. This model of social-entrepreneurship works very well and the bikes help residents for their journey to school or transporting work produce. So, if you have an unused bike in your garage, consider donating it to this good cause. log on to www.re-cycle.org for information.
