REACHING OUT
Rarely has the will to win been more dramatically illustrated than when Shaunae Miller dived for the line to beat Allyson Felix and controversially take the 400m gold (left). Rarely has the Olympic spirit been better demonstrated than when Nikki Hamblin stopped to assist the stricken Abbey D’Agostino in the 5000m (below). D’Agostino had helped Britishborn Hamblin up after a fall which tripped them both earlier in the race. Finally, Jessica Ennis-Hill (above) gets in the zone during the heptathlon shot put

PRESS ASSOCIATION
LEADING THE WAY
Sprint superstar Usain Bolt underlined his dominance in Rio, completing the ‘treble treble’ by striking gold again in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m. As ever, though, it was the style and manner in which he claimed his prizes that was most enthralling and impressive. A gold medallist who sprung rather more of a surprise was American Matt Centrowitz, who held off the field to win the 1500m (top right). British duo Callum Hawkins (far right) and Tom Bosworth also hit the front, albeit temporarily, in the marathon and 20km walk respectively.
