Title deeds: (clockwise from above left) Queen’s Sheer Heart Attack did not appear on the LP of the same name
I was listening to P.J. Harvey’s
Rid Of Me,
which includes the song Dry, which was the title of her previous record. The Doors’ 1970 LP
Morrison Hotel
features a song called Waiting For The Sun, which was the title of their 1968 LP. Is leaving title songs off albums normal?

MOJO says: Well, it’s a shame to waste a good title. This happens plenty and the highest and best do it. As well as being the title of his 1967 debut, there was a track called Safe As Milk on Beefheart’s 1968 LP Strictly Personal; Queen’s song Sheer Heart Attack was on News Of The World (1977) and not the 1974 album of that name; Led Zeppelin’s Houses Of The Holy was on 1975’s Physical Graffiti; the titular song of AC/DC’s 1978 If You Want Blood You’ve Got It was on Highway To Hell (1979), and Cucumber Castle was on Bee Gees’ 1st in 1967 before naming their 1970 LP/TV special.
