Makers and craft ers across the district were out in force at the weekend’s ffurry of Christmas fairs and markets over the weekend.
Face painters worked their magic at Rockfield Primary PTA’s Holly Tea on Saturday and home bakers fed visitors a festive feast at Taynuilt’s Christmas fair raising funds for Muckairn Parish Church. Irene Main was so inspired by the work of young carers on a TV show that she organised a seasonal coffee morning at St John’s Cathedral in Oban at the weekend to help those locally, some proceeds also going to-wards the cathedral’s upkeep. Kilchrenan Does Christmas was a good excuse to get the community together for a social gathering and to raise funds for the village hall, said Issy Grant, one of the co-organisers, with Kathleen Christie who made all the mince pies.
From painted sea stones to decorated tiles, woodwork and cards, the crafters of Appin attracted lots of interest at their fair on Saturday and on Sunday singers from Seil Sound were in fine voice at the community hall as the Christmas fair was in full flow.
