Mullet Creek by Boat
Despite some unfortunate experiences at Wondabyne on the shores of Mullet Creek back in 2016, and again in 2017, Greg Edwards and Neil O’Connor felt that the location had so much potential that it deserved a third chance. So, in August this year, Greg and Neil headed off towards Mullet Creek once again with cameras in hand, but this time in perfect weather, and this time by boat!

No, not FNQ this time, but a Central Queensland Tour
‘Well, where are we going this time?’ After a couple of Far North Queensland trips, plus Tasmania and the Eyre Peninsular of South Australia, it seemed fair to try something different. So, with the knowledge that they could chase a passenger train in winter a significant way along the Central Line (at least from Emerald to Longreach) in daylight, that was all the information the boys required to say ‘include me, please’ and it was on!

One Rusty Rail at Lindum
Several years ago, Ron Stewein wrote a book about the conversion of the narrow-gauge rail network in the south east of South Australia to broad gauge, called One Rusty Rail. Brisbane boasts, if that is the correct word, another rusty rail gauge-conversion project; the third rail between Dutton Park and the busy port of Fisherman Islands, which has not had regular standard gauge trains for many years. Rod Milne reflects on the past and present of a seriously underutilised rail asset.

Riding the Pichi Richi Railway: Behind Yx141
On the weekend of 23 and 24 June, the Pichi Richi Railway ran a special photo charter train, to Port Augusta and return, with recently restored ex-SAR 2-6-0 Yx141 running its first revenue service. Ewan McLean was there with camera in hand.

Cardiff Service Delivery Centre upgrade
On Tuesday 4 September, Downer EDI Limited welcomed over 40 staff and guests to an official opening ceremony, followed by a plant tour, to unveil the $38 million upgrade of the Cardiff Service Delivery Centre. Bruce Belbin reports.
