I have to admit, I may work at a food publishing company but when it comes to baking, all of my culinary prowess goes flying out the window! My baked goods may be edible (most of the time), but they certainly won’t win any prizes for their appearance. Also in this issue, we’re exploring a topic that is somewhat contentious on page 106: why is there a gender gap when it comes to veganism? Whilst many of the recognisable names from the vegan community are male, the vegan population is predominantly female thanks to outdated stereotypes surrounding vegans and masculinity. There’s no denying that a shift is happening now however, and manliness is slowly but surely being redefined as more people are realising there’s nothing manly about killing animals. If you know any men who need a push in the right direction, sit them down in front of the new revolutionary vegan documentary The Game Changers (with plenty of tasty vegan snacks of course!) to empower them to choose compassion.
